Dowling Urban Environmental Learning Center is a Minneapolis Public Schools environmental magnet school for grades K through 5. We work to provide a social and academic climate that gives students a strong feeling of belonging. Our staff is highly qualified, extremely motivated, experienced, and very stable. We have high expectations for student achievement and our ultimate goal is to teach children how to teach themselves. In addition to our strong core curriculum of math, science, reading and core knowledge, along with environmental education, our students also enjoy participating in the following: general music,  visual arts,  physical education, media and computer skills, and 1st thru 5th grade swimming. Check us out, it's a great place to be!

Dowling 3rd and 4th grade physical education classes will be doing a bicycle safety and trail riding lesson unit the week of October 6th. Maxine would love to have as many parent volunteers help out with this fun and educational event to help all students learn about bike safety. Help adjust helmets, keep students organized and play other supportive roles. Please see our VOLUNTEER CORNER for details and sign up information

What could be more fun than tasty food, a Corn-Shucking Contest, live farm animals and hands-on activities for kids?  MPS Culinary & Nutrition Services is proud to announce that our third annual FREE Farm to School Community BBQ will be on Thursday, September 25th from 5:00 to 7:30pm!

The event will take place in the parking lot of our Culinary Center, located at 812 Plymouth Avenue North.  Students, families, staff and community members will have the chance to enjoy a locally-sourced meal, taste samples made by local chefs, learn about community organizations and meet some of the farmers who grow food for our school meals.

We understand that families have times where a student will be absent due to a family vacation or activity. If you are planning on taking your student out of school for 5 days or longer you must fill out a form provided by MPS. Please see the Attendance tab on the left side of our home page
