The Dowling Carnival will be held on May 29th. This is a wonderful year end celebration with games, food, and music for the whole family. We are still looking for donations of small toys and games for prizes and store bought food items such as Little Debbie snack cakes, individually packaged crackers, store bought cakes, brownies, cookies etc... for the cake walk. All of these items can be dropped off in the main office
Student council members will be visiting Shriners Hospital on East River Road in Minneapolis on Friday, May 22.  Students will be touring the facility to learn about how Shriners Hospitals help children with disabilities and will be donating the pop-can-tabs they’ve been collecting.  Please make sure your pop-can-tabs are sent to school by that day, and thank you everyone for such a great turnout!  Watch the Dowling Facebook page for a report on how many pounds of tabs Student Council collected.
Whenever possible, we’re asking families to return the containers students took plants home in for Mother’s Day (exception being 4th grade).  In addition, any plant containers in good condition that families have leftover after spring gardening can be brought in as well, all except for the six-cell rectangular ones which we have hundreds of!  We’re especially looking for the 4-inch square or circular containers.  Please shake out all excess dirt and send in dry containers only. We’d like to stockpile them in preparation for next year’s planting.  Thank you from the Greenhouse.
Safety Patrol ends on Friday, May 29.  Thank you so much to all the students and their families for making this a successfully safe year for walkers and bikers!  As a reward, all Safety Patrol students in fourth and fifth grade will be spending the day at Nickelodeon Universe on Monday, June 1.  This field trip is sponsored by Minneapolis Police, AAA auto insurance, and Target Corporation.  Students look forward to having a wonderful time celebrating hard work and safe conduct.  Have a safe summer, everyone!
