In the Music Room.......

SING!  SAY!  DANCE!  PLAY!

There is always a lot going on in the music room!  Every lesson with every grade level we work on building song repetoire, the proper mechanics of good singing, rhythm and movement activities, and music literacy.  During the month of January we will be learning songs appropriate to the upcoming holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther KIng Jr.

Third graders will hear a concert by the Minnesota Orchestra at Orchestra Hall on January 27th.  This concert is always a highlight of the year!

Current favorites:

  • Kindergarten - "Here We Come on Oour Ponies"
  • 1st Grade - "Margie Ate a Pickle"
  • 2nd Grade - "Chicken Soup with Rice"
  • 3rd Grade - "The Orchestra Song" (in 5 parts!!)
  • 4th Grade - "The Old Carrion Crow"
  • 5th Grade - "Sir Duke"

I am beginning to choose songs for our big Spring Concert in May; stay tuned for dates and more information.

Ask your child(ren) to sing a song we have learned in music class!
