I joined the Dowling School staff in 1986, when the Environmental Education program began. It was love at first sight when I saw Dowling's lovely old building situated on the it's picturesque 18 acre grounds. I thought, where else could I teach in such wonderful surroundings and incorporate science throughout my day?! After all these years, I still enjoy the science emphasis and teaching at Dowling. Prior to Dowling I've taught grades 1 through 6 in general education, and taught junior high reading.
I received my Bachelor's degree from St. Cloud State University in Elementary Education and Developmental/remedial Reading. Later in 1993 I was awarded a Master's degree in Curriculum Development from the University of St. Thomas. I've been happily married for 21 years, and am the proud mother of a boy and girl, both in middle school. My interests are nature outings, gardening, reading, cooking, and singing.
When you come to visit our class you will discover a very busy place with lots of cooperative and hands-on learning. Fourth grade is a fun, yet developmentally important grade. Some areas we'll be exploring are Rocks and Minerals, Water, Electricity and Magnets, Engineering, Multiplication and Division, Fractions, Decimals, Algebra, Geometry, Language Arts, Creative Writing, Research, Geography, and Environmental Education.
