Hello Scholars and Families!

This is going to be an exciting year in Science and Social Studies!

In science we will be learning about oil spills, the environment, landforms, simple machines, and physics. We will conduct a variety of experiments and simulations to learn about scientific principles through observations. Students will demonstrate what they have learned through graphs, drawings, and scientific writing.

In between science units we will also learn about American History. Students will study early Indigenous people, the first European explorers, international trade, and the development of the United States. As fifth grade students, they will be examining historical events from multiple perspectives using their analytical thinking skills, which enriches their understanding of the world. Students will work on many history projects throughout the year, which include writing, poetry, art, and acting.
