SCHEDULE FOR PICKING UP BELONGINGS

School staff will gather your student’s belongings and place them in a bag(s) which will be labeled with your student’s name, grade, and room number. Staff will be using safety precautions such as wearing gloves and masks while gathering and bagging student's belongings.

Families are being assigned a specific date and time from June 3 - 5 to pick-up the bag(s) based on your student’s last name as indicated in the chart below. Families can come at any point within that time span indicated on the chart below.

Families with more than one child at our school will get all of their children’s belongings on the same date, even if their last names are different. The pick-up date will be based on the child whose last name is closest to the start of the alphabet, for example, if your children’s names were Jane Doe and Frank Smith, you would pick up both their belongings on Jane’s date/time: June 3 between 9:30 and 11:30 am.

To ensure everyone stays safe during this process, families will need to stay in their vehicle and staff will place bags in the trunk--please make sure you have room in your trunk. Under no circumstance will families or students be allowed in the building. Families should enter the main parking lot on Dowling Avenue and proceed toward the canopy. Please remain in your vehicle. Staff will bring belongings to you. Please be aware that other families will be picking up belongings at the same time and you should expect some wait time as vehicles move through the line during this process.

At the same time, this will be an excellent opportunity for you to return items such as library books, teacher books or other borrowed materials. Unless you know that you are not attending a Minneapolis Public school this fall, you do not have to return your Distance Learning computers and hotspots at this time. Otherwise, let staff know you have things to return and they will take them from you.

When staff approach your vehicle, please roll down your window a small amount to give them your student’s name and open your trunk or back door (for vans) from your vehicle. Staff will stay a safe distance in respect of social distancing.

If you are unable to come to the school to get your student’s belongings for any reason, please leave a voicemail at 612-668-4410 or email SusanJohnson@mpls.k12.mn.us. Please include the following information when you contact us:

  • Your student’s first and last name.
  • Your current home address.
  • The best phone number to reach you.
  • NOTE: If you leave this information on our phone, please speak slowly and clearly.
